Does this need to be installed before a RAID is set up? Or could it be installed after creating a RAID in ZimaOS, and the RAID will continue to function? NAS stuff is all very new to me and I want to make sure I’m handling it right.

Two different OS’ and Truenas uses ZFS… so very different… would need to re-create the pool… that being said I have Truenas running on a Zimablade and it is working well

Any distinct reasons for why you went with TrueNAS?

I like ZimaOS, I also know it’s still in development, and I’m wondering if there are benefits with TrueNAS by comparison.

I had planned to get my Cube and use it since day 1, but now it feels daunting having to make permanent decisions…

mainly because I have been using Truenas for a while now and it works really well… Proven OS for what I am doing… NAS server, Jellyfin and Plex… and Tailscale access… Lots of apps to add to it… active forums for support… price is right
