Some Explaination in ZimaOS Open Beta V1.0.0

  1. RAID Support: ZimaOS now offers RAID0, RAID1, and RAID5 configurations, allowing users to optimize data performance and redundancy according to their specific needs.

  2. Flexible Disk Capacity: Users can now create RAID arrays using hard disks of different capacities, providing greater flexibility in storage configuration.

  3. Individual Disk Storage: ZimaOS extends support for creating independent storage using a single disk, enabling users to utilize their disks efficiently.

  4. Compatibility with Various File Formats: ZimaOS ensures data retention by directly mounting and supporting file formats such as EXT2/3/4, VFAT, FAT, and FAT32 on hard disks.

  5. System Disk Protection: ZimaCube includes a built-in system disk of at least 256GB, which is not part of the RAID configuration. The system disk is protected by double copies and offers recovery options using a USB disk image in the event of damage.

  6. USB Disk Connectivity: Users can connect USB disks to ZimaCube, and these disks do not participate in the RAID configuration.

  7. Cloud Storage Integration: ZimaOS supports the mounting of popular cloud storage services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. While some integrations may be available before shipment, we welcome user feedback and requests for additional cloud storage platforms.

  8. Streamlined File Manager: The file manager in ZimaOS provides a comprehensive overview display, integrating the functionalities mentioned above into a single, user-friendly interface.

  9. MergeFS Function: With the introduction of RAID, the MergeFS function will no longer be available in ZimaOS. However, users can expect a broader range of disk functionalities, surpassing those offered by CasaOS.

  10. Development and Testing: The RAID feature is currently under active development and is expected to commence internal testing by the end of this year, ensuring a robust and reliable implementation.

All the images on Git are still showing v0.4.9.4.

Cheers.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. We’ve adjusted it.

ZimaOS Open Beta V1.0.0 CANNOT be updated directly and requires a fresh installation

Okay so, will we be able to update in the future or are we just permanently stuck on 0.4.9.4?

And if so, how often do you anticipate requiring fresh installs in the future?

Hello, the update plan of ZimaOS Open Beta 0.4.9 is yet to be determined, but we will update V1.0.0 in the future. Both of them will remain open.
